Websites, posters, and graphics that use fonts that are outdated or overused make a less than a professional impression. SNL recently did an excellent job skewering the font Papyrus for its overuse and continued circulation beyond its era. Then there are fonts like Arial, Helvetica and Times New Roman, which are timeless, but lack the personal touch and can seem plain.
So what do you do, especially if you’re on a budget?
Well, we are here to be your design consultant to help you choose fonts that are modern and give your brand a professional look. Good news is these fonts are free to download and use from Google Fonts. They also are available as selections inside our software to include on your forms.
These seven curated fonts will amp up your form’s design, ensuring that you won’t have to think twice before selecting fonts in the future. We’ve also provided great font pairings -- for times when you want to mix more than one font in your work.
1.Open Sans
Open Sans is very easy to read, and one of my personal go-to fonts because the roundness in each letter becomes more apparent in small block text, and doesn’t look stretched or squished.
Pairs great with: Roboto, Lato, Oswald, Raleway, Source Sans Pro
2. Lato
Lato, an increasingly popular font, is used great for body text. It has a very clean appearance when it’s used in all caps for a header.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Roboto, Oswald, Source Sans Pro, Raleway
3. Raleway
Raleway is a font that comes in many styles and has a very unique “w”.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Merriweather, Montserrat
4. Abel
As some fonts change slightly in shape according to font size, Abel is a thin rounded sans-serif that looks sleek and modern in every font size.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Roboto, Lato, Oswald, Raleway
5. Gentium Basic
Gentium Basic makes a really clean serif all-caps title.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Raleway, Lato, Montserrat, Oswald
6. Poppins
Poppins is a really rounded sans-serif that is very versatile in the number of styles that it comes in.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Roboto, Raleway, Oswald
7. Archivo Narrow
Archivo Narrow is a great minimalistic font for both body and heading text. This font is preferred to stylistically condense text so more space is saved and the user gets to see more of the background.
Pairs great with: Open Sans, Oswald, Lato, Roboto.
These are just a few of our favorite fonts to use that are now available in our software. Look out for these fonts when building your next form!
